“What good is sitting alone in your room, come hear the music play!” John Kander and Fred Ebb’s legendary landmark musical
Cabaret,  will be staged in the main theater at the Florence Events Center November 4-6 and 11-13 in conjunction with the 9th annual Celebrate Arts!

Set in Berlin between the first and second World Wars, the play uses the cabaret setting to depict the darker side of German society during the rise of the Nazis. The Master of Ceremonies, played by Mathew Korso, entertains his nightly audience with a jazzed-up “girlie show,” starring American singer Sally Bowles, played by Melanie Heard.

Sue Sweatt will play the role of Fraulein Schneider who rents rooms in her flat to a collection of boarders, including aspiring American novelist Clifford Bradshaw, played by Jason Wood. Herr Schultz, owner of the nearby Fruit Shop (Jim Wellington), and Fraulein Kost (Melissa Anderson) also rent rooms there.

Winner of the Tony and 8 Oscar Awards, Joe Masteroff's book for Cabaret was based on John van Druten's play I Am a Camera, itself inspired by Christopher Isherwood's Berlin stories.

November 4,5,11 & 12 - 7pm
